Liveaboards and Hire Boats are subject to the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998, in addition to BSS requirements. Only a Gas Safe qualified engineer, with LPG for Boats and the relevant appliance certifications can do gas work on these boats.

Commercial hire and letting of boats, leisure vehicles, residential, static and park homes are subject to the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998. Like domestic landlords, an annual safety check and certification is required to prove the installation is safe. 

Leisure accommodation vehicle owners should perform checks on a regular basis. Inspect gas lockers, bottle hoses and gas lines for any damage or corrosion, and ventilation openings are clear. Test all appliances before setting off on your journey.
